Certified Used Oil Collection Centers

The Oil Recycling Centers are a free service to all Oxnard residents.
No appointments are necessary.

All State Used Oil Collection Centers are certified *by the California Integrated Waste Management Board. Most locations acccept drained oil filters as well as used motor oil. The Centers offer a $0.16 per gallon recycling incentive to the public. Please call for hours of operation. It is illegal to leave oil after business hours.

Preparation

• Motor oil brought to recycling centers must not be contaminated. Never mix solvents, water, gasoline or antifreeze with your used oil.
• Use plastic containers that seal tightly and are pourable.
• Oil is accepted in 5 gallon (or smaller) containers with a 5 gallon limit per day.
• Filters must be drained and put in a leak proof container.
• Call the center before you take in your oil. If their tank is full, they can refer you to another nearby location.
• Bring your oil ONLY during hours of operation.
• Free oil recycling containers are available at the Del Norte Regional Recycling & Transfer Station and Oxnard Fire Stations.

Why Recycle Used Oil?

Did you know that used motor oil never wears out? It just gets dirty and can be recycled, cleaned, and used again. Recycling used motor oil conserves a natural resource (oil) and is good for the environment too! Motor oil poured onto the ground or into storm drains, or tossed into trash cans (even in a sealed container) can contaminate and pollute the soil, groundwater, streams, and rivers.

Recycling your used motor oil reduces this pollution threat. When you take your used oil to a certified center for recycling, you are protecting the environment, conserving a valuable resource, and getting paid for it. That's a winning combination!
