Today, we have the opportunity to progress in the evolution of the Public Works Department to work more effectively as a true unified “department” – in both form and substance – with a unified purpose and vision. The Public Works Department has been realigned, and has consolidated existing functions to further the goal of greater intra-departmental direction and efficiency. 

Integrating functions around common activities will enable us to focus on our core strengths, and to better leverage our resources for the benefit of our community.  Consolidation of professional and technical expertise enable us to engage in a higher degree of long-term planning and focus the Capital Improvement planning for the City. This realignment will enable the Public Works Department to raise Oxnard’s interagency stature on state and regional levels, allowing us to better identify and address operating revenues, funding constraints, and operating reserves.

The Department’s operations consist of four distinct, yet complementary, branches:

• Utility Services
• Administrative Services
